The atmosphere was lovely. It was really dark once you got inside and they played Chinese instrumental music with only a few spotlights on certain Chinese plants. We got to make a wish, fold an origami lotus and float it on their lotus pond. We spent our wedding anniversary walking around hothouses.

The weather is still rubbish (gales, hale, sleet, snow, rain) but at least the snowdrops are slowly coming out. In this gallery I have some pictures from February as well as ones from months ago that were just recently developed from film. This month we welcomed the Chinese New Year of the rat and celebrated our wedding anniversary.

Lannie > Chinese Spring Lantern Festival at the Royal Botanical Gardens of Edinburgh. This is the Palm House. They filled six hothouses with Chinese lanterns and highlighted the Chinese plants in their collection. Can someone tell me what it says on the front? 23 Feb 2008.

Lannie > Chinese lanterns on a tree at the Royal Botanical Gardens, Edinburgh. It was very windy, so I presume that they are not lit by candles in the traditional style or the whole tree would have been on fire! 23 Feb 2008.
