September 2009 : Devon and Cornwall: A wedding in Torquay, hiking in Dartmoor National Park, trip around Cornwall (Blisland, Fowey, Helligan, Padstow, Tintagel, Bocastle) and finally a hike in Exmoor National Park. All in 5 days. Looks like I'll never get my camera back from the repair shop, so I dug out my old camera (300D). Still works!

August 2009 : My second month without my camera. It's still sitting with an Error 99 in the repair shop. So this month, we just have some snapshots - mostly from Mike's compact camera. I can't use it well as it's all automatic. I'm going to Cornwall next week, and still no camera. Noooooo.......

July 2009 : Despite a trip to Arran and Oxford this month, I don't have many photos. My Canon 40D suffered a dreaded "Error 99" just as I set foot on Arran. Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaah! Apparently, the shutter has stopped functioning. I am now suffering from camera withdrawal syndrome.

December 2008 : Since we've been busy moving house, I haven't really been using my camera much, except to take some snaps to document our Christmas travels. Michael received a new compact camera for Christmas and is finally taking some photos. First stop Grimsby, then Boston, Freiston Shore, Oxford and the Cotswolds, Birmingham/Litchfield, Leeds and finally back to Edinburgh. For pictures of our new place, click: here.

March 2008 : March has been rather gloomy, rainy and rather wintery. In fact, it snowed from Good Friday till Easter Monday! So much for spring. Most photos here are from Easter weekend when Chris paid us a visit. I also took some black and white shots on film. This month I discovered a small Malaysian restaurant in Edinburgh called "Kampung Ah Lee", which serves up authentic Malaysian dishes. Slurp!

February 2008 : The weather is still rubbish (gales, hale, sleet, snow, rain) but at least the snowdrops are slowly coming out. In this gallery I have some pictures from February as well as ones from months ago that were just recently developed from film. This month we welcomed the Chinese New Year of the rat and celebrated our wedding anniversary.

January 2008 : I've been rather annoyed this month that it only ever snowed at weekdays and not at weekends, which means that I did not get to take any photos of snow covered Edinburgh. Why can't Nature align with my weekends? Hmmmmmmm........ At least I got to take some frosty pictures when Chris came to visit. We also visited the WWT reserve at Caerlaverock.

September 2007 : Highlight: Some photos from my trip to Malaysia and Hong Kong. I'll be uploading the full galleries later when I find the time! I've also upgraded to the Canon 40D so half of the photos here are taken with that. My brother has kindly given me his Nikon F100 film camera, so I need to find time to figure out how to use these two new cameras! Two cameras up, one lens down (smashed my 18-200mm lens) during this trip. Fortunately, the repairman says it's salvageable!

July 2007 : We started off July with a magical trip to the beautiful Isle of May. It is the most remote island on the Firth of Forth - pretty much in the North Sea. In summer, it is filled with gorgeous seabirds nesting. Then, I catch a cold (again!) and have to stay at home sleeping and watching Wimbledon on tv for 3 days. I finally semi-recover on Sunday and Michael immediately makes me walk up hills and cycle around. So on Monday, I fall ill again. Grrrr...... I've also been updating my British wildflower gallery. Oh, and I've turned 30 this month. Ugh. Tick tock. During the last weekend of the month, I've finally recovered and we took a trip down to Grimsby via Holy Island, Seahouses and Farne Islands (more puffins!). My koko (big brother) bought me a new 60mm macro lens for my birthday and I'm thrilled to bits. Now I can take proper flower pictures for my British wildflowers project (or so I think).

June 2007 : I can't believe it's June already! We started off my visiting wildlife at Perthshire on 2nd June. We saw ospreys, red squirrels, woodpeckers, bunnies...woohoo! Then I had a week covering a conference in Edinburgh and a seabird cruise on such a cold, foggy and drizzly Sunday morning that I hardly took any pictures! Oh dear, June turned out to be the month of rain and grey.

April 2007 : 1st April - we pootle up the east coast, stopping at St Abb's Head, Dunbar, Tantallon Castle and Aberlady Bay to look for seabirds. We see guillemots, razorbills, shags, fulmars, faraway gannets.....but I wanna see a puffin! Easter weekend - A family visit from Mike's mummy, Richard, and Marisa.
This month I've been adding loads to my Scottish Wild Flower Gallery: see here. I've also seen lots of wild rabits emerging in spring. For my rabbit gallery, click here

March 2007 : 3 March - We visited Caerlaveroch Wildfowl and Wetland Trust Reserve for a wonderful day trip of Whooper swans and much more.
10-11 March - Another wet and gloomy weekend in Scotland (while England gets all the sunshine. Grrr....) so all I have is a picture of a belly dancing chemist. We did visit Duddingston Loch by Hollyrood Park and saw spent a peaceful hour with the swans and ducks (we also saw over a dozen herons nesting!) before it poured.
17-18 March - we pootled down the East coast, stopping at the John Muir Country Park, Seahouses and finally at (the original) Washington, where we visited another excellent Wildfowl and Wetland Trust reserve near Newcastle.
24-25 March - Carl and Tam's visit. We meet up with Emma too and do a quick tour of some lochs and two cities.
31 March - Alex Cortez pays us a visit from Boston (via Dublin). We go loch hopping and oyster-eating.

January 2007 : Another new year with no new year resolutions. This month we became members of the RSPB (Royal Society for the Protection of Birds) and went to our first Burns' Night dinner - complete with Ode to the Haggis and all. Michael is the bird lover, not me. I personally prefer cute mammals and flowers, he prefers birds and trees. A bit like the contrast in our musical tastes! Anyhow, when we are outdoors, there is something for one of us to enjoy.
